This is a Cipher Lab 8000-ccd physical inventory scanner (portable data terminal or pdt) for use with point of sale (POS) software such as Quickbooks Point of Sale versions 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. It is a wireless unit that connects via a USB cradle to the PC.
Guaranteed to work with QB POS via direct upload and Microsoft POS and RMS (Retail Management Suite) via text file import/export routine.
Includes battery powered (2 AAA disposable batteries included) portable scanner, usb connector, cradle and install CD. This is used for physical inventory count scanning for importing into POS software.

Installation Instructions (general for QBPOS):
In general, bring up QB POS first. Click File > Hardware Setup Wizard (or something similar). Then click on Physical Inventory Scanner (or in some versions Portable Data Terminal). Follow the directions for the rest of the setup. Do not install the driver that comes with the scanner as QuickBooks POS has an embedded driver for this product. You may need to go through the COM ports drop-down list and try each one (3 or 4 of them) until you find the one the PC registered for the device.

This should work with Microsoft RMS Store Operations and Microsoft POS but is not guaranteed. Carolina IT and POS can assist with the installation as a billable engagement. You would install the driver on the CD and/or search for an OPOS driver if available. I have had success with these products by importing a text file that the scanner creates.
